I never thought this day would come – exams have finished! I have my life back… and now I can finally get onto to some more regular posts, especially since we have two weeks of holidays until school goes back ^^
But with this good news comes some bad news… I’ve been a very, very bad parent. Kagamin’s arm joint snapped a couple of days ago. I was attempting a difficult pose with her arms in the air and sure enough, I was just that little bit too rough. I feel like a sadist since I’ve already broken her once, but it was purely accidental, I swear! orz
I’ve already begun repairing her, but I am still trying to determine the best glue to use. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! I have taken photos of the process to help out other figma sadists like me and will be putting them in a post soon.
On a lighter note, I am so excited for the holidays! Will have more time for photography, art, going out (just remembered I’m to Melbourne for three nights too!) and perhaps organising some future cosplay =D (I’m trying to convince my friends to cosplay Canaan with me, mwahahaha)

Gratz on finishing your exams! So, when are you tackling the HSCs?
Shame about Kagami’s broken arm joint though =( Sadly, I can’t really recommend what glue to use; I’m hopeless in figma fixing -_-
Thanks! ^^
I tackle the HSC next year o.O pretty scary… this year has just flown by.
Grats! Among the many things on what you can do, what will you do 1st?
TY! <3
Let's see… I think I will go fabric shopping first! =P Thinking of trying out making a skirt for a certain secret cosplay ^^ but I just remembered I'm also going to Melbourne for 3 nights! =O
Woo! Two weeks!
My examinations are starting! *~*
I wonder when I will have my first broken part, anyway, you can try googling up on what people use to fix their broken parts. I remember seeing some lying around.
Good luck with those! ^^
Have tried a bit of googling and have already found a few glue ideas. Next stop, hardware store!
Glad to see it’s over. I’m sure many ppl know the feeling when they finish their exams. ^^
Already planning for ur next cosplay? Then u will have plenty of time as the next convention is not until end of March next year. ^^
Oh yeah… Next con is Animania I assume – over 5 months away! Excellent. Lots of planning/construction time xD
congrats on getting through the exams and hooray for holidays! ^^
that sucks about Kagami’s arm joint, it seems everyone is experiencing damage figma parts lately >_<; would love to see a Canaan cosplay!
thank you! I would also love for Canaan cosplay, just have to convince one of my Shoujo-manga loving friends to go through with it, haha =P
congrats!! now is back to being an otaku? just in time for the Fall 2009 season!
Thank you! xD
I know! So excited for Fall anime season. Have already started on Scientific Railgun… can’t wait for the rest!
you should try Kampfer and The Sacred Blacksmith. awesome series!
congrats on ur exams, i hated the days of exams but thankfully they are over
now its just uni work lol
I had a broken bit on my drossel figma (the ball joint on the ear) which i fixed using tamiya cement (glue) (i built model motorbikes before and used it on that) and it worked perfectly on my figma, and it was a really thin part as well on a part that you push in and pull out of her and its fine has not come off so very happy, give that a go if you havn’t found anything yet. hope i could help
Thank you – and thanks especially for the glue recommendation!
To know that it works in an area that is moved around a lot is great. Today I might see if I can find it at my hardware store (hope they have it here in Sydney) ^^
Don’t make too many plans
I always have plans, then do something else. When I plan to blog, I watch anime, when I plan to watch anime, I read a book
And of course, the internet.
Okay, I shall plan not to plan anything! hehe xP
What’s with all these damages! I broke Konata leg yesterday toO!
I used super glue 101 to put her leg back together. So far it works wonders.
I hope Konata is ok! Thanks for the glue suggestion, I’ll add it to my glue list. I plan to buy a whole bunch & try them all so at least one is bound to work ^^
Awww… sad to hear that Kagami broke her arm… I know that Kodomut has some sorta crazy awesome glue he’s been using, and he’s proven how incredible it is. I can’t remember the name of it, but he used it to make a custom base for one of his nendoroids.
Adding you to my blogroll!
Ahh yes, I’ve seen some of Kodomut’s repair jobs… didn’t think of checking out glue what he uses. Thanks!
And thanks for the add! Just added you too~~
Good your exams are over!
I hope you can repair Kagamin as well.
Thanks! I’m on my 3rd glue trying to fix Kagami’s arm – hope it works this time xD
Congrats and I hope you did well on your exams.
I’m still in the middle of midterm season… I envy you.
Also good luck on repairing Kagami.
Thanks! Ahh yes, already got some results back. Came 2nd in one, 4th in another… and otherwise the others I’ve got back so far I’m very pleased with!
and thanks about Kagami – will need all the luck I can get! ^^
Yes, yes what they said. However what I’m really interested in is the prospects of the Canaan cosplay. Keep us informed!
I will! 1st step is convincing friends to go along with it xD
congrats for your holiday ^_^ just remember I go tenxam next 2 weeks >_<
figma sure crappy I broke many hand !!
thankeehs!
yeah, figma break so easily >.<
but I've managed to glue Kagami's arm so it's fixed again! (just got to sand down some of the glue) ^^
Sorry to hear that you broke Kagami’s arm – figma joints are quite delicate unfortunately.
I did write about how to handle joints to reduce breaking them before, you can have a quick read here:
http://quentinlau.blogspot.com/2008/10/figma-care.html
As for how to fix it, I’m still looking into this matter, but I know that Tommy from The Inferno Project uses a thing called Instant Krazy Glue to fix his Fate:
http://theinfernoproject.com/2009/10/03/figlife-it-was-fate/
If you put a little more effort into the fixing, then pinning will be a better solution afaik:

Hope those help.
Wow – so helpful! Thanks very much, I look forward to checking those out =)
Holiday in this fall season, you should be lucky. This season is filled with a ton of awesome series! I’m jealous, i just start my life now D:
Succes in your convincing, and dont forget to post the cosplay after that ;D
=D Yay for the new anime season!
Thanks, hopefully can convince friends and shall try to keep blog updated with Canaan cosplay plans ^^.
